Microarray technologies are rapidly becoming an essential tool for advancing basic and applied fields such as drug discovery, drug development and diagnostics. However, the major challenge facing protein microarrays producer remains at the level of development and exploitation. Current protein microarray technologies are based on the immobilization of a target biomolecule by non-specific adsorption on 2 or 3-dimensional surfaces, immobilization via chemical activated 2-dimensional surfaces and by attachment through well-known affinity tags, such as His- and biotin-tags. These approaches, however, suffer from significant drawbacks, including the requirement for purified proteins, the involvement of expensive and laborious biological and/or chemical procedures, and problems of low Signal-to-Noise ratio. Moreover, conventional microarrays do not include quality control standards to assess fabrication efficacy. Zephyr’s technology and products are designed for overcoming all of these pitfalls, being a reliable rapid, accurate yet simple and inexpensive tool.
